Dubai: Saudi Arabia on Wednesday announced the detection of 1,068 new coronavirus cases, signalling the Kingdom’s lowest daily reported cases in months. This takes the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 310,836.

Thirty-three virus-related deaths have been registered during the past 24 hours, taking the fatality tally to 3,755, the Ministry of Health said during its daily press conference.

In addition, 1,013 COVID-19 infected people have fully recovered, pushing the total recovered cases to 284,945. The recovery rate has jumped to 91.67 per cent. There are 22,136 active cases in the Kingdom, of which 1,601 are critical, Health Ministry spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al Abdul Ali said.

“Six quarantine facilities have been closed in the Eastern region as the number of infected people has declined drastically,” he added.

Jazan today reported the highest number of newly diagnosed cases in the Kingdom with 84 new infections, followed by Mecca with 67 cases and Media with 57. The rest of the cases were scattered in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.
