Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s single-day new coronavirus cases have hit a new low with 403 infections reported todayamid signs that the virus is in retreat in the kingdom, the Ministry of Health said.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the kingdom has been dropping almost every single day since mid-June when it reached nearly 5,000.

The ministry also said that 28 more people have died from the complications caused by the virus in the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the kingdom to 333,193 and the number of virus-related fatalities to 4,683 so far.

Of the new cases, 43 each were recorded in Jeddah and Medina, 32 each in Mecca and Hufof and 29 cases in Riyadh. The rest of infections were detected in different cities and governorates across the kingdom.

Meanwhile, 600 infected patients have fully recovered from the deadly disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 317,005, with the recovery rate reaching 95.14 per cent, according to the ministry. Active cases have also continued to drop in the kingdom with 11,505 being reported today, out of which 1,032 are critical under intensive care.
