Dubai: Qatar has reported 273 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 109,988.

The virus claimed the lives of two people due to complications caused by COVID-19, taking the country’s death toll to 169, the Ministry of Public Health said on Wednesday.

According to the ministry’s latest coronavirus updates, further 246 infected patients have fully recovered, taking the total number of recovered cases to 106,849.

Additional 5,505 PCR tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of tested people to 487,435.

There are 3,135 active cases, including 470 critical and 97 seriously ill patients under intensive care. The newly diagnosed patients have been admitted to hospital and are given medical care.
