Cairo: Qatar has allowed private health centres to resume Provision of non-emergency services, ending month-long suspension as a vaccination campaign is gaining speed in the country.
Late last month, the Qatari government ordered suspension of all non-emergency medical services at the private health facilities and allowed them to provide some services through what it called “modern communication methods,” amid a spike in COVID-19 infection rates.
Starting Thursday, those centres were allowed to resume their services within maximum 50 per cent of their normal capacity, the Qatari news agency QNA reported, quoting a government statement.
1.5 million doses
Qatar, a country of about 2.7 million population, initiated mass vaccinations against COVID-19 in December. The country has since administered over 1.5 million doses of the vaccines, according to the Health Ministry. The figure includes 29,942 doses administered over the past 24 hours.
Around 43. 3 per cent of the vaccine-eligible people in the country have received at least one shot, the ministry said. Moreover, 85.5 per cent of the people aged over 60 years have received one dose while 74.4 per cent of them have got two, it added in a statement.
Qatar so far has confirmed a tally of 204,976 coronavirus cases and 450 related fatalities.
