Cairo: Oman said Thursday that it will begin the new academic year in November.

A state supreme committee on COVID-19 met Thursday and decided that the academic year for all male and female students will begin on November 1, including 180 study days, the Omani news agency ONA reported.

The teaching staff and workers in related jobs will report to work starting September 27, ONA added.

The panel also decided to adopt in all schools the system of blended learning that combines the traditional class teaching with e-learning according to rules to be set by the Education Ministry.

On August 7, Oman lifted a two-week lockdown between its governorates as part of eased coronavirus-induced restrictions.

A nighttime health curfew was reduced starting from Saturday.
