Kuwait City: After the return of domestic workers from India was delayed, the first flight is scheduled to commence on Wednesday December 23, Al Qabas reported quoting an informed source.
The source indicated that the Kuwait Airways flight will depart on Wednesday, then the Jazeera Airways flight will follow on Friday.
The delay of flights was due to the fact that the Indian civil aviation authorities requested that Indian airlines should be added to the list of flights carrying domestic workers back to Kuwait, the source added.
Quota set
An agreement has been met and a quota has been set at 400 passengers per day, 200 of which are transported on a Kuwaiti airline (either Kuwait Airways or Jazeera) and 200 on an Indian carrier.
Although the green light was given for resuming of flights for domestic workers, some issues in organizing delayed the process.
Last week, the first flight of domestic workers from the Philippines landed in Kuwait.
Domestic workers have been stuck outside of Kuwait since the beginning of the pandemic due to airport closures. While the Kuwaiti airport opened at a reduced capacity in August, 34 countries are on a travel ban list, including but not limited to India, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
