Dubai: A total of 58 fishermen have been arrested in Kuwait for violating the Environment Protection Law (EPL), the Ministry of Interior announced yesterday. 11 boats were also seized.

The boats were in territorial waters using illegal nets a mile and a half from the Kuwaiti coast, a violation of Article 100 of the EPL, the ministry added.

Necessary legal measures were taken, and about eight and a half tons of fish were seized and delivered to the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, it said, noting that the PAAFR registered 11 violations.
