A woman was fatally stabbed by her husband inside Kulithalai Government Hospital in Karur district, Tamil Nadu, in the early hours of Sunday, in what police believe is a case of extreme domestic violence.
The victim, identified as Shruthi, was admitted to the hospital following a violent altercation with her husband, Vishruth, at their home late Saturday night, according to an IANS report.
According to police sources, Vishruth entered the hospital on Sunday morning under the guise of checking on his wife.
Concealing a knife, he gained access to her ward and attacked her, stabbing her multiple times. Shruthi died on the spot before medical staff could intervene.
The shocking incident unfolded in front of patients and staff, sending panic through the hospital. Vishruth managed to flee the scene immediately after the attack.
Law enforcement arrived shortly after the incident and have registered a case of murder. A manhunt is ongoing to trace the accused, who remains at large.
The incident has raised urgent concerns about patient safety and the lack of security in public healthcare facilities.
