Initiative aims to enhance living standards in Sharjah

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Executive Council, presided over the Council’s meeting on Tuesday at the Ruler’s Office.
The session was also attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the Executive Council.
The Council reviewed several agenda items on government performance and development projects across Sharjah’s cities and regions. Officials emphasised that these initiatives are designed to enhance community welfare and ensure dignified living standards for citizens.
Following directives from Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Council approved a resolution introducing targeted support packages.
The initiative aims to strengthen social and economic stability for Emirati families, while providing additional care for senior citizens, people with disabilities, and bedridden individuals.
The programme is designed to empower beneficiaries to manage daily needs more independently. Eligible categories include heads of households, bedridden seniors, bedridden persons with disabilities, and dependent elderly individuals. The resolution also details assistance amounts, conditions, executive regulations, and enforcement procedures.
In the same meeting, the Council approved a draft law to repeal certain articles of Law No. (11) of 2017 concerning the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah. The draft has now been referred to the Sharjah Consultative Council for further legislative review.
