Dubai: An Indian expatriate living in Sharjah has won the Dh15 million grand prize in Big Ticket’s live draw series 284, held in Abu Dhabi.

Vibeesh Palliyali was holding ticket number 394150, which he purchased on February 28.

Show hosts Richard and Bouchra have noted that the draw was postponed on March 3 due to “unforeseen developments relating to the current situation.”

“We recognise that this is a very difficult and uncertain time in our region,” said Richard.

“It is in moments like these, staying connected as a community matters most than ever.”

Palliyali, a 48-year-old driver originally from Kerala, has been living in Sharjah with his family for the past 20 years. He is a long-time participant of Big Ticket and has been purchasing entries for the past 15 years without missing a month.

“I purchased this ticket together with four of my friends, and we will be sharing the prize among us,” said Palliyali.

“We are very thankful to the Big Ticket team for making our dreams come true. Hopefully, we will take part in the draw again in the future.”

Meanwhile, overseas Filipino worker Peter Tan has taken home a brand-new Range Rover Velar.

The 46-year-old specialist, who works at a power plant in Abu Dhabi, has been residing in the emirate with his family since 2007.

“Big Ticket is a very well-known name in the UAE, and many people dream of winning the grand prize. I started purchasing tickets around four years ago, taking part in both the grand prize draw and the dream car series,” stated Tan.

“I usually buy the dream car tickets on my own, while the grand prize tickets are purchased together with my brothers-in-law.”

Other winners announced

Apart from Palliyali and Tan, five participants have bagged the consolation prize of Dh100,000 each. These include Indian expats Biju Erattayil and Chisma Chandran, both residing in Dubai; Kamlesh Patel and Sathosh George, based in Kuwait; and Bangladeshi national Mozammel Hoque Samsul Hoque, also living in Dubai.

Meanwhile, the four contestants for Big Win have also received Dh150,000 each.

As March begins, Big Ticket has announced its latest promotion, with a grand prize of Dh20 million set to be awarded during the live draw on April 3.
