Abu Dhabi: Rajesh Mullankil Vellilapullithodi, who won the Dh15 million grand prize in Big Ticket’s April draw, said the unexpected windfall will secure the future of his family and others with whom he will be sharing the money.

Having lived in Oman for 33 years, the 45-year-old technician from Kerala was visibly ecstatic as he arrived at the Big Ticket show for the May draw held on Saturday. Immediately, show hosts Richard and Bouchra asked him why they hadn’t been able to reach him last month.

“There was some network issue. I was also having my dinner,” Vellilapullithodi said with a grin.

“I am sharing the prize money with 21 people,” he added.

Asked about their future plans, the Keralite said: “Actually, we don’t have a plan yet.”

However, he noted that the jackpot is going to transform many lives.

“All of us are from lower- and middle-class families. So, we have to make sure our families are secure. We also wish to do some charity,” he said, before going on to pick the winning ticket for the Dh25 million draw.

“Keep trying. The lucky will win one day,” Vellilapullithodi added.
Big Ticket is turning up the heat this May with a massive Dh20 million grand prize up for grabs in the raffle draw scheduled for June 3.
