Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, following His Highness’s journey aboard an Etihad Rail passenger train on Saturday.

In a message of appreciation, Sheikh Theyab described the visit as a reflection of the UAE leadership’s steadfast support for national infrastructure initiatives: “We were honoured to host His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on an Etihad Rail passenger journey between the emirates of Dubai and Fujairah. This journey symbolises our leadership’s commitment to advancing strategic national projects that shape the future of our country.”

From vision to reality

He noted that Sheikh Mohammed has long championed the UAE railway project, from the announcement of the Projects of the 50 in 2021 to inaugurating the fully integrated national freight network in 2023.
“His Highness has closely witnessed the evolution of Etihad Rail—from concept to reality—and today, we stand at the threshold of a transformative new phase for the country’s transport sector,” Sheikh Theyab said.

Driving the UAE’s future forward

He reaffirmed Etihad Rail’s dedication to strengthening connectivity, boosting economic integration, and enhancing the UAE’s global competitiveness: “We are proud of the unwavering support this national project continues to receive. It drives us forward towards a more connected future—one that serves our people and positions the UAE as a global leader in sustainable transport infrastructure.”
