Ajman Police take action after school bus mishap involving 13 students
Ajman: A minor accident occurred in the Al Mowaihat area of Ajman when two school buses lightly collided. Fortunately, no students were seriously injured, Ajman Police reported on Tuesday.
Police patrols arrived quickly at the scene to secure the area and manage traffic. Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Humaid bin Hindi, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, said the operations room received a report about the accident while students were on their way home from school.
Traffic police, along with "Saaed" patrols and the National Ambulance, responded immediately and carefully documented the incident.
An investigation revealed that the collision occurred because the second bus failed to maintain a safe distance. Both vehicles were moving at low speed when they made contact. As a precaution, the National Ambulance checked all students to ensure they were safe and unharmed.
Ajman Police took appropriate action against the driver found responsible for the incident.
Lieutenant Colonel bin Hindi emphasised that Ajman Police remains fully committed to the safety of students and all road users. He urged all drivers — particularly school bus drivers — to follow traffic regulations and maintain a safe distance to prevent such accidents.
Authorities said the accident involved 13 children aged 6 to 12 and one teacher. Emergency teams from the National Ambulance arrived within 13 minutes and swiftly took control of the situation.
All the students, who are Pakistani nationals, were transported to two hospitals. Three were admitted to Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah and later discharged after receiving treatment. The remaining students were taken to Khalifa Hospital in Ajman. Some received medical attention at the scene.
All the children were discharged from the hospital on the same day after receiving the necessary treatment and confirming their good health.
