Vehicles seized for driving without plates, risking public safety
Abu Dhabi Police arrested a group of motorists in Liwa, Zafar district, for reckless driving and endangering public safety. The violators were caught conducting dangerous stunts, fleeing from patrol units, and driving vehicles without number plates — a series of offences described as “uncivilised behaviour” that posed a serious threat to road users.
The operation was carried out by the Department of Traffic and Security Patrols in the Zafar region, in coordination with the Special Patrol Administration.
Colonel Muhammad Dahi Al Hameiri, Director of the Central Operations Sector, confirmed that field teams responded quickly and professionally, apprehending the violators and taking necessary legal action.
He warned that reckless driving remains one of the leading causes of major traffic accidents and will not be tolerated. “The safety of the community is a top priority for Abu Dhabi Police,” he said. “We will act firmly against any behaviour that threatens public order or endangers lives and property.”
Colonel Mahmoud Youssef Al Balushi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Directorate, urged parents to monitor their children’s behaviour and promote responsible driving. He warned that ignoring such violations can encourage dangerous conduct and result in serious legal and physical consequences.
Authorities urged the public to support law enforcement by reporting dangerous behaviour via the toll-free number 8002626 or by SMS to 2828.
Abu Dhabi Police reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing joint field campaigns and stepped-up monitoring of roads and vital areas as part of a proactive strategy to safeguard lives, maintain public order, and enhance traffic safety across the emirate.
