Abu Dhabi Police have shared an awareness video on their social media platforms, alerting motorists about driving carefully, without any distractions.

The video shows a white SUV driving on the fast lane, oblivious to a long queue of stationary vehicles ahead. The driver tries to swerve to the right at the last moment, but fails. Instead, it crashes into another SUV in front of it, badly damaging it from the rear.

The video goes on to show another similar incident, in which a black SUV on the fast lane swerves right sharply, avoiding the vehicle in front of it, but crashes into an SUV in the adjacent lane, causing it to turn over on its side. The black SUV, with its front smashed, careens to the right, before colliding with something off the screen and coming to a stop.

The police once again warned drivers about the dangers of distraction from using phones to browse the internet and social media, making calls, taking pictures, and other behaviors that can lead to serious traffic accidents.

They also stated that the penalty for being distracted from the road while driving a vehicle, in any form, is Dh800 and four traffic points.
