Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have launched a field campaign targeting e-scooter users in a bid to raise awareness, enhance road safety, and promote responsible riding habits across the emirate.

Led by the Directorate General of Traffic and Patrols within the Central Operations Sector, the initiative aims to educate riders on the importance of adhering to traffic laws while using electric scooters — an increasingly popular mode of transport in Abu Dhabi.

As part of the campaign, officers distributed informational brochures titled "Advice and Guidance", which include QR codes linking directly to digital content such as short awareness videos outlining key safety regulations and best practices for e-scooter use. The campaign also featured on-the-ground screenings of digital films highlighting traffic risks and proper riding behaviour.

Brigadier Mahmoud Yousef Al Balushi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, stated that the initiative reflects the police force’s commitment to fostering a culture of safety among users of modern mobility devices. “Our goal is to reduce accidents and injuries, safeguard lives and property, and support the safe integration of e-scooters into the emirate’s wider transport system,” he said.

Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Khalaf Al Dhaheri, Head of Traffic Awareness and Education, stressed the importance of reducing speed in crowded areas and using only designated lanes. He also urged riders to follow safety protocols, including the use of helmets, hand guards, and reflective clothing — all of which were distributed during the campaign.

This latest initiative is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy to improve road safety while adapting to the evolving landscape of urban mobility. It underscores the emirate’s commitment to ensuring that new transport trends are integrated safely and sustainably.
