After 34 years in Dubai, Indian expat finally wins Big Ticket prize

Dubai: A 52-year-old long-time Dubai resident, originally from Mumbai, has finally struck luck in the weekly e-draw of the Big Ticket promotion held in Abu Dhabi.
Ramesh Lulla won Dh50,000 with his ticket number 086541.

“I’m happy. I bought it a week ago,” said Lulla, who lives in the Al Mankhool area of Bur Dubai.

“I’ve been in Dubai for 34 years,” recalled Lulla, who has been residing in the emirate with his family since 1991. “We’re in the foodstuff business.”

Lulla has been buying Big Ticket entries every month for the past five years and recently took part in the ongoing bundle offer, which gave him three tickets. His free ticket turned out to be the winning one – and he’s the sole winner.

“No, I’m not sharing. It’s only for me,” he said, adding that his wife will decide how to spend the prize money.

His winning ticket will go back into the drum for a chance at the Dh20 million grand prize draw to be held on August 3.

“Yes, I hope to win. Fingers crossed,” he said. “But what I do know for sure is that I’ll keep buying Big Ticket entries. My advice to others is simple: Big Ticket is a transparent and trustworthy raffle, and everyone should try their luck.”
