In a lighthearted twist to a routine rescue, Bangkok police ‘arrested’ a cat after it bit several officers who had taken it in. The feline, an American Shorthair wearing a pink harness, was brought to the station on May 9 by a concerned citizen, according to the South China Morning Post.

Officer Da Parinda Pakeesuk shared the story on Facebook, saying that police had welcomed the lost cat and prepared a cozy space with food and toys. However, instead of showing gratitude, the cat — named Nub Tang, which means ‘counting money’ in Thai — lashed out, scratching and biting multiple officers.

Jokingly treating the incidents as criminal, Pakeesuk posted a photo of the cat next to a mock ‘paw print record’ and announced her ‘arrest’ for assaulting officers. “This cat has been charged with assaulting police officers and is about to be detained. Please share this post so her owner can come and bail her out,” he wrote.

The post quickly went viral, drawing laughter and sympathy from netizens. Some even offered to adopt the feisty feline. However, Pakeesuk emphasised that their main goal was reuniting Nub Tang with her rightful owner.

The following day, the owner arrived at the police station, bringing the playful saga to a close. In a humorous finale, Pakeesuk penned a faux police report from Nub Tang’s perspective: “I was just hungry. I did not mean to bite anyone.” The cat “signed” the report with two paw prints and posed for a playful mugshot.

No penalties were imposed, but Pakeesuk quipped, “This case must be handled properly. We cannot have other cats thinking that biting people is acceptable.”

Nub Tang was released with a verbal warning and returned safely home.
