What began as faint night-time noises quickly turned into a moment of shock for the family
For wildlife enthusiasts, national parks and safaris offer the chance to see exotic animals in their natural habitat. However, for a family in Gujarat’s Amreli district, this fear became reality when they found a lion perched on their kitchen wall late at night.
According to the Times of India, around 1am on Tuesday, residents of Kovaya village were shocked to find a fully grown lion attempting to enter Mulu Lakhotra's kitchen. The lion had managed to leap over the 12-to-13-foot kitchen wall and squeeze itself between the wall and the rafters.
Village sarpanch Jina Lakhotra described the chaos: "The family screamed in panic, and neighbours quickly gathered. We made soft sounds to avoid frightening the lion and causing any harm," Jina said.
The frightened family, using torches and recording videos, kept their distance as they waited for help. Forest officials were alerted and arrived promptly, successfully removing the lion from the property.
Jayen Patel, Deputy Conservator of Forests (Shentrunji Division), explained to the Times of India that the lion belonged to a pride near Jafrabad. These lions occasionally enter villages in search of food, particularly when stray livestock is scarce. Such incidents are extremely rare.
The viral footage has captured widespread attention, with many online users expressing amazement and shock at the unusual encounter.
