Footage shows the leopard calmly exploring rooms, briefly startling an on-duty officer
In a surprising incident at Naduvattam Police Station in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris, a leopard casually strolled through the premises, captured on CCTV footage.
The video, shared by IAS officer Supriya Sahu, shows the big cat leisurely exploring various rooms, creating a brief stir among the on-duty officer.
The footage begins with the leopard wandering confidently through the station, inspecting corners with curiosity before exiting.
A quick-thinking policeman, spotting the unexpected visitor, cautiously tiptoes behind, peeking to ensure the animal has left. With calm precision, he secures the door after several attempts, locking it safely. No one was harmed, and the leopard returned to the forest unharmed.
Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of Environment, Climate Change, and Forests, praised the officer’s composure, humorously noting the leopard’s ‘inspection’ visit.
“A leopard decided to inspect the Naduvattam Police Station in Nilgiris. Hats off to the police person on duty who calmly closed the door and called forest officials. No one was hurt. Leopard went back safely to the forest,” she wrote on X while sharing the clip.
The video amassed thousands of views online, with netizens lauding the officer’s bravery and joining Sahu’s lighthearted jests about the leopard’s intentions.
