He said the rooster’s 3 am crowing made rest impossible
In a rare incident in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district, an elderly man filed a complaint against his neighbour’s rooster, alleging that its early morning crowing disturbed his sleep.
According to local media reports, he alleged that the noise affected his health.
Radhakrishna Kurup, a resident of Adoor, claimed that the rooster’s relentless crowing at 3am made it impossible for him to rest. Seeking relief, he approached the Revenue Divisional Office (RDO) with a formal complaint.
Following an investigation, authorities acknowledged that the noise was indeed disruptive.
It was found that the poultry was being kept on the upper floor of the neighbour’s house, amplifying the sound. To address the issue, the RDO directed the poultry owner to relocate the shed to the southern side of the property within 14 days.
The unusual case has sparked discussions on balancing neighbourhood harmony with pet and livestock ownership.
