New Zealand warns of tsunami threat after 5.9-magnitude quake

Wellington: New Zealand authorities issued a tsunami warning Thursday following a 5.9-magnitude quake on the western coast of the South Island, warning people there to "move immediately" to high ground.

People in affected areas should make their way to the "nearest high ground, out of tsunami evacuation zones, or as far inland as possible", the National Emergency Management Agency said.
