Government reports 3,685 dead and 16,740 injured after June 24 quakes

The death toll from the double earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to 3,685, the government said Tuesday.

"Official toll as of July 7: 3,685 dead, 16,740 injured," a government statement said, up from 3,535 dead reported on Sunday. The statement gave no mention of numbers of missing.
