38-year-old caregiver’s death in Israel under investigation amid robbery claims
A 38-year-old caregiver from Wayanad, Kerala, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Israel, along with the elderly woman he was employed to assist. The deceased, Jinesh P Sukumaran, a resident of Koliyadi near Wayanad, had been working in Mevaseret Zion, a town near Jerusalem, for just over a month.
According to a report by Onmanorama, Jinesh was found hanging in a room of the house where he was employed. In an adjacent room, his 80-year-old employer was discovered dead with multiple stab wounds.
The woman’s husband, who Jinesh was reportedly caring for, survived the incident and provided initial testimony to the police.
Jinesh’s body was found after police arrived at the scene following the discovery of the woman’s body around noon on Friday. The case has left his family in India devastated and searching for answers.
Back home in Wayanad, Jinesh’s relatives remain in shock and say they have yet to receive any clear details from Israeli authorities.
A former medical representative, Jinesh had moved to Israel just six weeks ago in hopes of repaying debts and providing financial support to his family.
Although initial reports suggest a possible murder-suicide, friends and family members strongly dispute that theory. “The woman’s husband told the police Jinesh would never do such a thing,” a close relative said. “He was a devoted family man who spoke highly of the people he worked for.”
Family members also claim that a robbery took place at the residence and that several items were reported missing, adding to doubts surrounding the circumstances of the deaths.
Sulthan Bathery DySP Abdul Shereef told Onmanorama that the Kerala Police had not yet received any official communication on the case. “We’ve only seen media reports and don’t have verified details,” he said.
The family is now working to contact Jinesh’s friends in Israel and arrange for the repatriation of his body. He is survived by his mother, sister, wife, and young daughter.
