Dubai: In a disturbing repeat of the Meghalaya honeymoon murder, a newlywed man in Andhra Pradesh has been found dead just weeks after his wedding — and his wife and mother-in-law have been detained in connection with the case.

His wife Aishwarya and her mother Sujatha have been detained, and police have launched a murder investigation.

According to Deccan Chronicle, unidentified persons lured Tejeswar to conduct a land survey in Panyam, claiming they needed his services for a 10-acre plot. Once there, the assailants killed him by slitting his neck.

“We first collected details from the family members and verified Tejeswar’s wife Aishwarya’s call data records along with her mother Sujatha. We detained them and grilled them to unravel the mystery behind the murder,” a police officer involved in the investigation said.

Police sources say Aishwarya was in regular contact with the manager of a non-banking financial institute in Kurnool — the same place her mother, Sujatha, worked. That manager is now absconding, raising further suspicion about his potential role in the plot.

“We are finding out the exact motive behind the murder,” the officer added.

According to Deccan Chronicle, the police received information from their counterparts in Kurnool about a body found in an agricultural land at Panyam in the district on June 20.

A police team from Gadwal went to the spot and identified that it was Tejeswar’s body. A group of villagers noticed the body in bushes in the farmland after a foul smell started emanating from the spot and alerted the police.

A web of relationships and red flags ignored

Tejeswar, a land surveyor and dance teacher, married Aishwarya on May 18. However, his family had raised concerns before the wedding, alleging that she was already in a relationship with a bank employee. The wedding, originally set for February, had been postponed when Aishwarya disappeared briefly — only to return and insist on going ahead with the marriage.

Despite family objections, Tejeswar was adamant.

Now, his relatives believe he was lured into a deadly trap. They allege that Aishwarya, along with her mother and possibly others, conspired to kill him after the wedding.

Echoes of the Meghalaya honeymoon murder

This case follows close on the heels of another horrifying newlywed murder — the Meghalaya honeymoon killing — that has stunned the country.

Raja Raghuvanshi, a 30-year-old businessman from Indore, married Sonam on May 11. A week later, the couple travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. On May 23, they both went missing. Days later, Raja’s mutilated body was discovered in a gorge on June 2.

Investigations revealed a sinister plot: Sonam had allegedly conspired with her lover to murder Raja during the honeymoon trip. She surrendered to police on June 8, and several accomplices have since been arrested.
