Dr. Radwan found handcuffed, gagged, a couple arrested in connection with the murder
Dubai: Egyptian authorities have launched a homicide investigation following the killing of a prominent neurologist whose body was found in his apartment in the northern city of Tanta, the capital of Gharbia Governorate, local media reported.
Dr. Saeed Mohammed Radwan, 75, a prominent figure in the local medical community and the owner of an epilepsy treatment centre in central Tanta, was discovered dead in his residence on the Club Street. Security officials said he was found handcuffed, gagged, and lying on the floor.
The police were alerted after members of Dr. Radwan’s family, unable to reach him by phone, asked a domestic worker who occasionally cleaned the apartment to check on him. Upon arrival, she found his lifeless body and immediately notified the authorities. Security forces responded to the scene and transferred the body to El Menshawy Hospital. A senior security source confirmed that Dr. Radwan lived alone and was not known to have had recent visitors aside from the cleaner.
Later that day, investigators arrested a man and his wife believed to be connected to the killing. Neighbours reported that the couple had been seen visiting the doctor’s residence, claiming to be seeking assistance.
Preliminary findings suggest that the woman orchestrated the crime with her husband. The pair allegedly gained access to the apartment, assaulted the victim, and stole his mobile phone along with 5,000 Egyptian pounds.
The motive appears to be robbery, though investigations are ongoing. No further details about the suspects have been made public. Dr. Radwan’s death has shocked residents of Tanta, where he was respected for his decades of service to patients with neurological conditions.
