Abu Dhabi: Saudi authorities have arrested an expatriate for converting his house in Jizan, Saudi Arabia, into a barber shop.

The man had turned his house to a barber shop for compatriot citizens. The shop and tools were confiscated and a legal action has been initiated against him, said Nayef Bin Manahi, head of Jizan municipality.

He said Saudi authorities continue to implement the checks of shops and firms on a daily basis to ensure implementation of precautionary protocols to stem the spread of coronavirus.

"The campaign aims at stopping transgressions, infringing regulations and levying municipal fines on violators," he said.

The official urged members of the public to report municipal violations to the hotlines for legal action.

Saudi Arabia has recently relaxed some coronavirus-related restrictions, except in Mecca, which remains under a health lockdown.
