Dubai: Saudi Arabia reported 687 new cases of the novel coronavirus – the lowest daily COVID-19 increase in about five months – bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 324,407, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday.

Mecca reported 72 new COVID-19 infections, Dammam 49, Jeddah 48, and the capital Riyadh detected 37 new infections.

Twenty-four people died due to complications caused by the virus, raising the coronavirus death toll to 4,213.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries climbed to 300,933 after 935 people recovered in the past 24 hours.

Resumption of flights

The resumption of international travel to and from Saudi Arabia is currently under review and depends on how severe the coronavirus outbreak continues to be, the Kingdom’s Minister of Health Dr.Tawfiq al-Rabiah told a local news channel on Thursday.

“As long as there are still cases of the coronavirus, precautions have to be taken to ensure the health and safety of all,” Al Rabiah told Al Ekhbariya news channel.
