Cairo: Registration for taking the vaccine against COVID-19 has increased fivefold after Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman received the injection against the disease, according to the kingdom’s Health Minister Tawfiq Al Rabiah.

On Friday, the prince appeared in images carried by the media receiving the vaccine . Other senior Saudi officials followed suit.

“The hour, which followed publishing the news of His Highness the Crown Prince receiving the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, the registration rate for taking the vaccine rose by five times compared to the previous hours,” Al Rabiah tweeted.

The number of the persons receiving the vaccine, meanwhile, increased by three times, he added without giving specific figures.

Mass vaccinations

The minister thanked the prince for his “influential initiative”.

Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia launched mass vaccinations against COVID-19 after receiving batches of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Registration for the vaccine is available for Saudis and expatriates in the kingdom through the smart app “Sehhaty” by visiting http://onelink.to/yjc3nj.

Saudi authorities have said that the vaccine is provided for free for citizens and foreign residents.
