Cairo: An entire Saudi family has contracted the new coronavirus after its head caught the virus, but his case was wrongly diagnosed as seasonal flu, the man has said.
Badr Al Qarni, the spokesman for the city of Khamis Mushait in Saudi Arabia’s south-western region of Asir, said that a week ago, he suffered from a fever, a high temperature and other symptoms. “I went to the primary health care centre in my district and asked to be tested for the coronavirus, but the doctor on duty refused and diagnosed the case as seasonal flu,” he said in a Twitter post. “Now a week later, the case has been proven to be a confirmed case of the coronavirus. All members of my family have been infected. Who bears the blame for this?”
So far, there has been no comment from local health authorities.
In the past few days, Asir has seen increases in virus infections, mainly in Khamis Mushait. Out of the 3,921 nationwide cases reported on Friday in Saudi Arabia, 52 were confirmed in Khamis Mushait.
