Abu Dhabi: Saudi police have arrested a gang of six made up of a Saudi and five Yemeni outlaws for allegedly being involved in a series of burglaries in Mecca, a security official has said.

The suspects, in their 30s and 40s, allegedly broke into shops in the holy city and stole money, spokesman for the Mecca police, Major Mohamed Al Ghamdi added.

“In one of their crimes, they broke into a house of resident, and the total amount they stole was SR180,000,” he said.

The six have been remanded to custody. Legal procedures have been taken against them before referral to public prosecution, the official said.
