The films will be shown on a large screen while moviegoers will stay inside their cars to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

A selection of international films will be shown during the festival and interested parties are requested to reserve spaces online, according to the Asir municipality.

The organizer said it has picked high-rated family films catering to the tastes of everyone.

The festival is co-organised by the Asir municipality and the Tourism Ministry.

In April 2018, Saudi Arabia reopened cinemas for the first time in over 35 years, as part of the kingdom’s efforts to promote its entertainment activities and diversify its oil-dependent economy.
