Cairo: Enterprises breaching regulations in place to fight the new coronavirus in Saudi Arabia face a fine of 10,000 riyals, Saudi newspaper Okaz reported Saturday.
Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al Rajhi has endorsed the fine as part of penalties against violators of bylaws related to “exceptional circumstances”, the report said.
The fine will multiply depending on the number of violation cases and workers involved, it added.
Earlier, Al Rajhi had issued a ministerial decree approving guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus at workplaces.
Saudi Arabia so far has reported a total of confirmed 49,179 coronavirus cases including 292 deaths.
In recent weeks, Saudi authorities have ramped up campaigns to ensure different businesses' compliance with rules aimed to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The kingdom will impose a 24-hour nationwide curfew for five days starting from Ramadan 30 as part of its measures against the virus.
