Dubai: Saudi Arabia reported 2,593 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 57,345, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday (May 18).

Meanwhile, the ministry reported 3,026 recoveries today, with total recoveries in the kingdom at 28,748. There are 237 cases in intensive care.

The ministry also confirmed 8 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the kingdom to 320.

The Saudi Health Ministry has tripled the daily number of COVID-19 tests, which explains the increase in confirmed cases in the Kingdom, said Health Minister Tawfiq Al Rabiah on Sunday.

Seven cities and governorates in Saudi Arabia have together recorded 2,378 cases, 87 per cent of 2,736 coronavirus infections reported yesterday.

Makkah with 557 cases topped the list on Sunday. It was followed by Riyadh with 488 cases, 392 in Medina, 357 in Jeddah, 286 in Dammam and 149 each in Hufof and Al Jubail.
