Cairo: Qatar has launched a pro-Palestinian relief campaign aimed to raise 60 million Qatari riyals.

Dubbed “We All Are Palestine”, the campaign has been mounted by the Qatari Red Crescent in cooperation with its Palestinian counterpart to provide medical and relief supplies to the Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The drive plans relief projects to benefit around 593,000 people in the Palestinian territory over six months. They include equipping hospitals, providing relief supplies and medical equipment as well as repairing houses damaged in a recent Israeli bombing offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Deadliest showdown

A ceasefire, mediated by Egypt, appeared Sunday to be holding between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers, two days after it went into effect, ending one of their deadliest showdowns in years.

The Qatari Red Crescent said its campaign aims to alleviate suffering of the Palestinians, treat those injured in the onslaught and meet essential needs of hundreds of Palestinian families.
