Cairo: Emir of Qatar Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani has received credentials of the new Saudi ambassador to Doha as relations are growing between the two Arab countries after a boycott of more than three years.

Tamim welcomed Ambassador Prince Mansour Bin Khalid and wished him success in his mission to “consolidate brotherly and historical relations” between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the official Saudi news agency SPA reported.

The Qatari Emir also asked the envoy to convey his greetings to Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed, SPA added.

Attending the ceremony was Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt had severed diplomatic and transportation links with Qatar in mid-2017.

In January, the Saudi-led bloc ended their rift with Qatar at a Gulf summit held in the Saudi city of AlUla and attended by the Qatari emir. Senior officials from the two countries have since exchanged visits.

In May, Emir Tamim visited Saudi Arabia.
