Msucat: Oman will resume its public transport services between and within the cities from September 27 in a phased manner, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced today.

Muscat city service will resume from October 4 whereas intercity service will be the first to be restarted from next week. Public transport services for Dhofar region will resume from October 18. The Ministry added the operator, Mwasalat, will announce the date to operation for city service in Sohar.

The resumption is subject to all existing COVID-19 compliant rules and regulations as issued by Oman’s Supreme Committee. The public transportation service must abide by safety measures, including sterilising buses before and after the end of the trip and taking the temperature of passengers travelling between cities. Passengers must wear a face mask throughout the trip and maintain physical distancing as mandated.

There shall not be any people standing in the buses and passengers must avoid touching the handles on the bus. The Ministry also stressed the importance of passengers disclosing any symptoms similar to COVID-19 to curb the spread and ensure safety of other passengers.
