Muscat: At the recent press conference by the Supreme Committee, Major Mohammed Al Hashami from the Directorate of Public Relations at Royal Oman Police said that the operations centre activated to receive calls reporting COVID-19 violations has received positive feedback

Anyone can call in and report incidents related to violations of the decisions of the Supreme Committee, by just calling the toll-free 1099 number.

Positive response

The number was circulated in social media channels and quickly found a positive response. Many said that the call was attended to in the second ring itself.

Najib Ur Rahman, who manages a series of shops in Muscat says he called the number to report a group that had assembled in a house near his shop. “The call was answered quickly and I gave them the information about the gathering. They took the details and ensured me that the necessary action will be taken.”

Gatherings of any kind remain banned and anyone found violating this will be slapped with a heavy fine. The one that invites people for gatherings will be fined RO 1,500 with the attendees to the same getting a fine of RO 100.
