Dubai: Fifteen people have been arrested by Royal Oman Police (ROP), for attempting to enter the Sultanate illegally, local media reported on Tuesday.

A statement issued online by the ROP said: “The Coast Guard police have seized a smuggling boat carrying 15 people of Asian nationalities on board. The boat was near Ras Al Sifah in the Governorate of Muscat. Legal procedures are being completed against them.”

It is not the first time that infiltrators have been arrested trying to illegally enter Oman. Earlier this month, 27 Asians were held on that charge.

The ROP urged the public to offer more cooperation in countering crimes of smuggling and infiltration, and not to employ or shelter illegal migrants.
