Muscat: The Indian Embassy in the Sultanate of Oman has shared a circular on the revised guidelines for international passengers travelling to India. As per the guidelines, travellers may seek exemption from institutional quarantine (IQ) by applying to the New Delhi Airport online supported by a RT-PCR report.
All travellers are also required to submit a self-declaration form on the online portal www.newdelhiairport.in at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel.
Although a 14-day quarantine is mandatory on landing, which includes a 7 day institutional quarantine and a 7-day home quarantine, an exemption is possible from institutional quarantine, for emergency reasons. Only compelling reasons like distress, pregnancy, death in the family or serious illness are permitted in the ambit of emergency exemptions from institutional quarantine.
Final and binding
Permission for the same needs to be requested through the aforementioned portal, 72 hours prior to the date of journey, and a negative PCR test report taken not later than 96 hours before the proposed travel date should also be attached with the request. The decision taken by the Indian government and as communicated through the portal will be final and binding.
At the arrival airport, post the thermal screening, the passengers who have been exempted from institutional quarantine and have been informed by online portal in advance, must show the same to the respective counters, before being allowed proceed for home quarantine.
With Oman opening commercial airline operations from 1 October, many who have withheld air travelare preparing to proceed, deterred only by the quarantine rules back in India. Meanwhile the phase 7 flight schedule of Vande Bharat Mission has been released today by the Indian Embassy in Oman, with flights to various cities in India starting from 1 October.
