Cairo: Oman said Wednesday that its overall infections of the coronavirus have risen to 83,606, an increase of 188 new cases against the tally reported the day before.

The Omani Health Ministry put the total number of deaths from COVID-19 at 603 with six new fatalities recorded.

The total number of recovered patients in the sultanate has reached 78,188, or 93.5 per cent, the ministry said, according to the Omani news agency ONA.

The ministry added that the number of patients receiving intensive care treatment stands at 158.

A recent Health Ministry report said that epidemiological data indicates a drop in infection cases in Oman.

Omani authorities this week lifted a ban on night-time movement that was imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
