Cairo: Oman Saturday recorded 290 further cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the country's total infections to 81,357, the Omani news agency ONA reported.

The latest cases include 231 Omanis and 59 foreign residents in Oman, the Health Ministry said in an update.

The ministry also announced seven new deaths from COVID-19, taking Oman's total such fatalities to 509.

The country's overall recoveries from the disease have increased by 1,218 to reach 73,481, the ministry added.

On Friday, Oman lifted a two-week total lockdown between its governorates as part of eased restrictions against an outbreak of the new coronavirus.

A nighttime curfew, in place to contain the spread of COVID-19, is set to be shortened as of Saturday evening.
