Cairo: Oman Saturday recorded 1,177 new cases of the novel coronavirus, keeping an upward trend in the country and taking the overall infections to 45,106.

The latest cases, reported by the Omani news agency ONA, include 969 Omanis and 208 foreign residents, the Health Ministry said without giving a breakdown of the foreigners' nationalities.

The ministry also announced 10 new deaths from COVID-19, bringing Oman's total such fatalities to 203.

The country's overall recoveries from the disease have reached 26,968, an increase of 799 against the tally reported the day before.
