Cairo: A night-time ban on movement in Oman has today come to an end amid a drop in coronavirus infections in the country.

A state supreme committee on COVID-19 said that a decision to ban movement at night ended starting from 5am this morning, the Omani news agency reported. The curfew hours were shortened last week.

The committee appreciated what it described as a “great response” by citizens and expatriates to the ban enforcement and urged them to strictly abide by all precautions aimed at limiting the spread of the virus. This includes wearing protective face masks, observing social distancing and constantly washing hands.

Oman so far has reported a total of 82,743 virus cases and 557 related deaths.

On August 7, authorities lifted a two-week total lockdown between Oman’s governorates as part of eased restrictions against an outbreak of the coronavirus.
