Kuwait launches probe, orders authorities to expedite efforts to apprehend the assailant
Dubai: Two doctors were brutally attacked outside Sabah Al Salem North Centre, Kuwait, late at night by an unknown individual after they refused to issue a medical leave note past official working hours.
The suspect, reportedly angered by the denial, followed the physicians into the clinic’s parking lot and assaulted them with a sharp object, believed to be a wheel wrench, causing multiple injuries, including a fractured hand.
The Public Prosecution has launched an investigation into the incident and ordered security authorities to expedite efforts to apprehend the assailant, who fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Attorney Elaf Al Saleh, acting on behalf of the Kuwait Medical Association and the two victims, filed a formal complaint at Sabah Al Salem Police Station.
The case has since been transferred to the Public Prosecution, which has already taken the testimony of one doctor and the legal representative.
The second doctor is expected to provide his statement after completing treatment at Al Razi Orthopedic Hospital.
Speaking on the matter, Al Saleh condemned what she described as a “blatant and cowardly assault,” adding: “This is not just an attack on two medical professionals, it is an attack on the dignity and safety of the entire healthcare sector. It violates the core ethical and human values of any civilized society.”
