Cairo: A fuel tank has exploded in an industrial area in Kuwait, killing two people, a local newspaper said.

A third person was injured in the explosion that happened Thursday evening in the industrial Shuwaikh zone, Al Rai newspaper reported.

The identities of the victims were not disclosed.

The explosion occurred while the tank was being welded in a workshop, jolting the tank away for nearly 30 metres and it hit a bridge, the public relations department at the Fire Service Directorate said.

“Firefighting teams handled the incident. An investigation is under way to learn about all details,” it added.
