Kuwait City: On Monday, the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah, praised Kuwait’s judiciary, which he said is known for its justice and integrity and added that Kuwait is a country that follows the constitution, law and its governing institutions.

Sheikh Nawaf made the statement during a meeting where Ahmed Al Ajeel, a long-time judge, was sworn in as the new President of the Supreme Judicial Council.

Al Ajeel has held several judicial positions in the past and is known for his handling of the critical 2015 ‘Abdali cell’ case, where authorities broke up a cell in Kuwait and seized arms, ammunitions and explosives that belonged to several Kuwaitis and Iranians that had ties to Iran and Hezbollah.

The Emir affirmed his confidence in Al Ajeel, as well as various other judges to the Court of Cassation, including but not limited to Adel Bourisly, who was appointed deputy of the Supreme Judicial Council.

The Crown Prince, Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmed Al Sabah, was also present during the meeting and stressed the need to expedite the completion and facilitation of the litigation process so that the judiciary remains an impregnable fortress and a safe haven for all.
