Cairo: Kuwait has recorded 900 new cases of the coronavirus over the past 24 hours, against 667 reported the day before, pushing the country’s overall infections to 87,378, a health official said today.

The country’s total fatalities from COVID-19 has reached 536 with a new death, Health Ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al Sanad added in an update.

There are 90 patients receiving intensive care treatment, Dr. Al Sanad said, according to the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA.

The Health Ministry also said that 582 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing to 78,791 the overall number of recoveries from the disease in Kuwait.

Kuwaiti Health Minister Dr. Basel Al Sabah, meanwhile, called on people to observe anti-virus precautions, warning of return to square one.

“Let’s cooperate to reduce infections by abiding by health conditions to maintain openness without need to be back to square one,” he said on his Twitter account today.

Earlier this week, Kuwait lifted a curfew imposed for over five months to limit the spread of COVID-19.
