Cairo: Kuwaiti authorities have decided to cancel this year’s camping season, usually starting in November, as a precaution to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, an official said today.

Earlier this week, the virus infection tally in Kuwait surpassed the 100,000 mark.

“The decision will be reviewed based on reports issued by the Health Ministry on December 15,” Ahmed Al Manfuhi, an official in a government committee tasked with implementing health measures, added, according to the Kuwaiti daily Al Anba.

Camping, a popular tradition in Kuwait, annually starts at the onset of winter and runs for about four months.

Kuwait so far has recorded a total of 101,851 virus cases and 592 related deaths.
