Dubai: Bahrain has announced the detection of 444 new cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 40,755, the ministry of Health reported on Friday.

Three people, including two Bahrainis, a 75-year-old man, 56-year-old woman and 55-year-old male expatriate died from the coronavirus, taking the death toll to 147.

The Health Ministry revealed that the latest cases include 236 expatriate workers while 208 of them are contacts of local cases.

It said an additional 437 people recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 37,357.

The ministry added that of the 3,252 active cases, 77 are receiving treatment and 41 in critical condition.

Bahrain has so far registered a total of 40,755 cases, including active cases, recoveries and deaths.

The kingdom has also conducted 826,672 tests for COVID-19.
